About World Trade Press
At The Global Kitchen by World Trade Press, we believe food is the best way to understand a culture—and the best way to bring people together. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to publish cookbooks and food culture guides that are as authentic as they are inspiring.
Our books don’t just give you recipes (though you’ll find plenty of those, from everyday favorites to holiday specialties). They also invite you to sit at the world’s table, exploring traditions, dining customs, local ingredients, and the stories behind the meals. Each page is designed to help you experience a country through its flavors and to see how deeply food connects with history, geography, and community.
This idea—that food can bridge cultures—goes back to our founder, Edward G. Hinkelman. A lifelong traveler, author, and economist, he spent decades visiting 67 countries and learning firsthand how important it is to share accurate, trustworthy cultural knowledge. When he started World Trade Press in 1993, he wanted to break down barriers and make it easier for people everywhere to connect.
Today, our team of writers, chefs, and cultural experts from around the globe continue that mission. Together, we create cookbooks that let readers not only taste the world’s cuisine but also understand the traditions that give those flavors meaning. Whether you’re a home cook, a food lover, or simply curious about other cultures, our books are here to take you on a journey—one recipe at a time.
